The majority of the 5 Star team are from a professional sports background and have played or worked in an elite environment with world leading professionals.

The team are passionate about what they do and we thought you may want to know a little more about them.

JAMIE FIELD

Jamie was a professional rugby league player for over 17 years, playing for Leeds Rhinos for four years before moving to Wakefield Wildcats for the next eight years. He then joined the championship leaders Featherstone Rovers for a further four years until 2010 when he announced his retirement from the game.

During his rugby career and whilst he was the strength and fitness conditioner for Wales RL National Team he worked with some of the best trainers and conditioners in the world. This has given him a vast amount of knowledge on training, nutrition and what it takes to help you achieve your goals.

As owner of 5 star Fitness since it began in 2004, he has worked with clients ranging from elite athletes to the clients who have never trained before. This wealth of experience means that Jamie will be able to design a program to help you achieve your goals no matter what they are.

Jamie not only gets great satisfaction from training himself, but gets a great sense of achievement in helping others improve their lives.

KENNY MILNE

Kenny, spent the majority of his footballing career playing in the Scottish Premier League for Hearts, Falkirk and Partick Thistle before moving to England and playing in the Championship for Scunthorpe United in 2008.

Kenny is a director alongside Jamie and works as a full time personal trainer. He has trained many clients with sports-specific needs, as well as those undergoing rehabilitation and seeking lifestyle changes.

Ed Hanson

In addition to Ed’s impressive career with the Bradford Bulls, he possesses a unique talent for connecting with individuals from all walks of life and guiding them on their fitness journeys.

Ed’s coaching style is not just about physical transformation; it’s about fostering mental resilience, building healthy habits, and achieving long-term results.

Ed’s extensive experience in the fitness industry, combined with their commitment to continuous learning and innovation, makes Ed an invaluable resource for anyone striving to become the fittest and healthiest version of themselves.

Erris

Hi Everyone.

I have just completed my Masters in Sport and Exercise Therapy after receiving my First Class Degree (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science.

I am also currently working alongside professional athletes at Barnsley FC and Leeds Rhinos as well as injury clinics for the general public providing a range of soft tissue massages, rehabilitation gym sessions on a 1 to 1 basis and producing patient files for consultations involving details of presenting conditions along with recommended treatment plans.

Coming from a background of gymnastics and dance I’ve always had an interest in sport and how the body operates to meet the physical demands of it. Having completed an undergraduate degree in sport and exercise science I found I was most interested in the physiology of the human body and how to help people when injuries occur. Outside of my interest in sport therapy I enjoy socialising with my friends and going to gym.

Oliver

Oli has been a personal trainer for 3 years.

He developed a passion for the gym through many years being involved in professional sporting environments.

Oli loves helping clients achieve their goals and see improvements in not only their strength, but general health and well-being.

Oli started playing rugby at the age of 8 after growing up watching his Dad (and ne boss!!), Jamie, who also played professionally.

Oli joined Leeds Rhinos Academy at 14 years old and by the age of 19, he’d earned a place in the first team.

This year Oli signed a 3 year deal at York Knights, which has given him the opportunity to play regularly and develop further.

Kian

Kian is our most recently qualified personal trainer at 5 Star. He has been in and around a gym environment since he was 14, when he was Oli’s first client.

He became a personal trainer just over a year ago and started working at 5 Star shortly after, where he has definitely entertained and contributed to a fun environment in the gym!

Kian has played rugby at amateur level most of his life but has recently slowed down due to new commitments.

He loves walking and hiking up mountains, and has some big walk plans for the future.

Away from the gym you will more than likely find Kian in a coffee shop typing away on his laptop.
